A few days ago studying in the UH library, I noticed my laptop all of a sudden wasn’t receiving power and the light my AC adapter was blinking. After unplugging it from the laptop, that is, from the power jack, the AC adapter’s light turned solid green again. Then, as you might guess, after plugging it back into the laptop’s power jack, the light on the adapter would again start blinking and no power would circulate.

After brief research, I learned that I could take the battery out and press the power button to relieve all currents and that after that everything would work fine. Well, I did get it to work, however not my this method. After trying it several times and failing, I figured I’d just use the laptop without the battery, since it powered the laptop without the battery in it. Then the idea of just placing the battery back in the laptop while I was receiving power came up. So as the laptop is working I placed the battery in and SUCCESS the AC adapter no longer was blinking and it was successfully transferring power to the laptop and battery.

Now, however, several days later, in a similar library, I noticed I wasn’t receiving power again. When I unplugged the adapter from the laptop, the light on the adapter continued to blink. This was not the case previously. Previously, the light on the adapter would only blink when plugged into the laptop and would turn solid green when I disconnected it from the laptop. Now however, without the laptop ever coming into the picture, the AC adapter, by itself, not plugged into anything other than the wall, constantly blinks. The laptop receives no power, and I’m stuck.

Also, used my sisters AC adapter, she has a similar laptop, and everything worked fine. Meanwhile, my AC adapter, while plugged into the same power jack in the wall, just blinks.. and blinks…

In addition to Intel 11th Gen CPUs and 5G support, HP’s biggest accomplishment here is getting the 14-inch ZBook Firefly G8 below the 3-pound mark by a hair at 2.98 pounds. We’ll still round up to 3 pounds when comparing it to other laptops (like the 3-pound 13-inch MacBook Pro), but it’s lighter than HP’s previous 3.1-pound model.

And about those new EliteBook laptops — the EliteBook 830 G8, EliteBook 840 G8, EliteBook 850 G8 and the EliteBook x360 830 G8 also have 11th Gen processors (U-series, just like the ZBook Fireflys) and Intel Xe graphics. The EliteBook 800 and ZBook Firefly G8 laptops have a similar aesthetic, with a tapering bottom half that has a triangular edge on the rear. The ZBook Firefly, despite its name, isn’t a brighter-colored laptop — but in fact darker than the silver EliteBook 800. As HP has been doing for a while, these laptops use ocean-bound plastics in the speaker enclosures. 

At 0.7 to 0.8 inches thick, these G8 laptops aren’t exactly slim nor thick. And while the 14-inch ZBook Firefly weighing in at just barely less than 3 pounds is a strong showing, the EliteBooks tip the scales at 2.8 to 3.8 pounds, which make sense given their 13- to 15-inch sizes. The x360 830 G8 is 0.2 pounds heavier than its non-convertible sibling. 

The EliteBook 800 G8 and ZBook Firefly G8 all have the same set of ports: dual Thunderbolt 4 USB-C, dual USB 3.1 Type-A ports, HDMI 2.0, a headphone jack, a security lock slot and a dedicated power port.

One of the biggest differences between the ZBook Firefly and EliteBook 800 laptops is in their screens. Those who want an extremely accurate panel will go for the Firefly laptops, which are rated for 100% of the DCI-P3 spectrum. The M1 MacBook Pro hit 78.3% in our testing.

The EliteBook 800 laptops also meet the Intel Evo standards, and there will be vPro versions (a standard for many IT teams) of these systems coming in January 2021.

Just like the new M1-based MacBook Pro, the HP ZBook Firefly G8 14 and 15 look to provide seriously long battery life. HP rates the ZBook Fireflys as lasting up to 14 hours on a single charge. 

That’s based on the MobileMark 14 battery test, though, so we’ll see how long they make it on the Tom’s Guide Battery Test, which involves web surfing over Wi-Fi.

Since competition is best for the consumer, we hope that HP’s latest business-class laptops for creators and pros truly do stack up well against the new M1 MacBooks. At the very least, the Firefly G8 displays look to outshine Apple and anyone else hoping to throw down.

Galaxy F62 is powered by the same chipset as the Galaxy Note 10

This year, Samsung unexpectedly introduced a new mid-range smartphone bearing the Galaxy F41 moniker, and it turns out that it won’t be a one-off Flipkart exclusive. Samsung is planning to release additional Galaxy F-branded phones in India next year, and the next one in line might be called the Galaxy F62.

The said smartphone model was recently benchmarked with the online tool Geekbench and the results are quite unusual. According to the test, the Galaxy F62 carries the same Exynos chipset that you would find inside the Galaxy Note 10, i.e., the Exynos 9825.

Although the chipset was introduced last year as an Exynos 9820 refresh, it still was a flagship-grade solution. It’s rather surprising to see a mid-range phone – and a Galaxy F-branded one at that – adopt a top tier SoC, even if it’s from a year ago and carries the Exynos brand.

6GB of RAM and Android 11

The Exynos 9825 SoC inside the Galaxy F62 will be paired with 6GB of RAM, reveals the benchmark. In addition, the smartphone is being tested running Android 11 and it will hit the shelves with the same version of Android OS pre-loaded. Benchmark scores clock in at 763 and 1952 points in single-core and multi-core tests, respectively.

There’s no telling when exactly Samsung intends to launch the Galaxy F62, partly because the series is so new and there’s no history behind it to use as reference. The first model in the series – the Galaxy F41 – was unveiled and released in October, but seeing the benchmark at hand, it’s more likely that the Galaxy F62 is scheduled for release in the first half of 2021.

A few days ago studying in the UH library, I noticed my laptop all of a sudden wasn’t receiving power and the light my AC adapter was blinking. After unplugging it from the laptop, that is, from the power jack, the AC adapter’s light turned solid green again. Then, as you might guess, after plugging it back into the laptop’s power jack, the light on the adapter would again start blinking and no power would circulate.

After brief research, I learned that I could take the battery out and press the power button to relieve all currents and that after that everything would work fine. Well, I did get it to work, however not my this method. After trying it several times and failing, I figured I’d just use the laptop without the battery, since it powered the laptop without the battery in it. Then the idea of just placing the battery back in the laptop while I was receiving power came up. So as the laptop is working I placed the battery in and SUCCESS the AC adapter no longer was blinking and it was successfully transferring power to the laptop and battery.

Now, however, several days later, in a similar library, I noticed I wasn’t receiving power again. When I unplugged the adapter from the laptop, the light on the adapter continued to blink. This was not the case previously. Previously, the light on the adapter would only blink when plugged into the laptop and would turn solid green when I disconnected it from the laptop. Now however, without the laptop ever coming into the picture, the AC adapter, by itself, not plugged into anything other than the wall, constantly blinks. The laptop receives no power, and I’m stuck.

Also, used my sisters AC adapter, she has a similar laptop, and everything worked fine. Meanwhile, my AC adapter, while plugged into the same power jack in the wall, just blinks.. and blinks…
