Bose Sport Earbuds review

Everyone deserves a second chance, or at least Bose hopes you feel that way. The Bose Sport Earbuds are the company’s sophomore true wireless workout earbuds, and are sure to be a mainstay among gym-goers. Did Bose actually make improvements from the original SoundSport Free, or did it just repackage old issues? Let’s find out in our full Bose Sport Earbuds review.

Who should get the Bose Sport Earbuds?

Athletes should get these earphones because they’re IPX4-rated, and can bear even your most demanding workouts.

Anyone can use the Bose Sport Earbuds, because the proprietary ear tips keep the buds in place no matter what. The embedded mics make it easy to take hands-free calls from anywhere, and you can charge them up in a pinch.

Are the Bose Sport Earbuds easy to use?

Bose selected plastic for its Sport Earbuds, which is a smart move since weight and durability are key to great workout earbuds. The earbuds’ design is very plain, but in a modern way. There isn’t a rough edge or corner to be found on the Sport Earbuds. The oblong shape protrudes from the ear, but it doesn’t draw nearly as much attention as the original SoundSport Free true wireless earbuds.

The Sport Earbuds are free of any buttons, and the outside of each housing serves as a touch panel. Controls are very limited: as of the Bose Music app version 4.1.1, you can’t control the volume or skip back a track. You can pause playback by a double-tap of the right earbud, or by removing it. Only the right bud houses a sensor for automatic ear detection, which facilities automatic play/pause functionality. Another thing exclusive to the right earbud is mono listening. If your right ear is hearing impaired, you can’t yet use the left earbud alone, which is a real shame.

The StayHear Max ear tips are one of the best features the Sport Earbuds have to offer. At a glance, the ear tips look intimidating and are much larger than your standard sleeve, but they work wonders. No matter how much I shook my head, the earbuds stayed in place. They’re also extremely comfortable: the wing tips lightly grip your concha, and the ear tips create a relatively pain-free seal to your ear canals. (Ed. note: this won’t be true for everyone. Some people just can’t wear in-ears without some discomfort)

The case isn’t anything special, though it’s much more compact than the one included with the Bose SoundSport Free. Unlike most true wireless headset cases, the Bose Sport Earbuds case doesn’t rely on magnets to keep it shut. Instead, you have to press a button which releases a lever, opening the lid. While it’s not as satisfying to use as something like the Google Pixel Buds case, it’s more functional because it guards against accidental openings anytime you drop it.

Four LEDs line the outside of the case and indicate the remaining battery levels, while a single Bluetooth pairing button rests inside. This is something you’ll end up pressing a bit, because the Sport Earbuds have their fair share of connection quirks.

How to operate the onboard controls

The Bose Sport Earbuds have far fewer onboard controls than the original Bose SoundSport Earbuds. The possible controls for the Bose Sport Earbuds are as follows:

Double-tap the right earbud to pause or resume playback, removing and reinserting it performs the same function.

Double-tap the right earbud to answer or end a call.

Tap-and-hold the right earbud to access your voice assistant. This same gesture lets you decline an incoming call when appropriate.

Double-tap of the left earbud to either skip tracks or check the battery levels. You must use the Bose Music app to customize the left earbud’s function.

Should you get the Bose Music app?

You should get the Bose Music app for firmware updates, and to assign a function to the left earbud, but otherwise it’s pretty useless. You can’t create a custom EQ; instead, Bose champions its Adaptive EQ software, which can’t be disabled. I found Bose’s Adaptive EQ effective, but some tinkerers may be annoyed by this limitation. Another issue that arose with the Bose Music app: it’s buggy. Even when the earbuds were connected to my phone, the app failed to recognize the connection. This forced me to insert the buds into the case, and essentially start the pairing process from scratch.

There are redeeming qualities to the app, since it can be used to switch between paired devices. Alternatively, you can just use your smartphone’s Bluetooth settings and disable call and audio streaming, but that is a little more involved than the Bose Music app options. You can also enable or disable the Bose voice prompts, if you find them redundant. The app also displays clear battery readings, and lets you customize the name of the earbuds. I don’t really care for the latter feature, but Bose does have some creative name options.

Do the Bose Sport Earbuds stay connected?

The Bose Sport Earbuds operate via Bluetooth 5.1 firmware. When indoors, I walked around within the nine-meter wireless radius, no problem. The story changed when I took the earbuds outside, because connection hiccups occurred anytime I walked five meters from my Samsung Galaxy S10e. Interestingly, these issues only arose when both my smartphone and the earbuds were outside. The earbuds stayed connected within the designated range anytime my phone was inside but I was outside.

The earbuds didn’t always reconnect to my smartphone, even when I manually selected the Sport Earbuds from my phone’s Bluetooth menu. This didn’t happen often, but no one wants to re-do the pairing process a handful of times per week. While these connection issues are annoying, you can find solace in the great possibility that this will be remedied with a firmware update.

Both the SBC and AAC Bluetooth codecs are supported, which is good news for iPhone owners since AAC plays well on iOS. If, however, you have an Android phone, your handset may have trouble maintaining high-quality AAC streaming to the Bose Sport Earbuds. If connection issues become too egregious, sometimes the best option is for you to force SBC streaming from the developer settings of your smartphone.

How is Bluetooth 5.1 different from Bluetooth 5.0?

Bluetooth 5.1 has more advanced location features than Bluetooth 5.0, in that it can pinpoint the directionality of your peripheral’s location, relative to its source device (e.g., the distance and direction between your earbuds and smartphone). Bluetooth 5.1 can improve the accuracy of features like “find my earbuds,” which isn’t supported by version 4.1.1 of the Bose Music app.

The 5.1 firmware has a revamped caching system which makes it even more energy efficient than Bluetooth 5.0. You can expect a minor bump in battery life between 5.1 and 5.0 Bluetooth devices. With this new caching system comes the ability to make faster connections, so automatically connecting to a smartphone should be near instantaneous, though it isn’t quite perfect with these earbuds. It also makes it easier to broadcast the Bose Sport Earbuds connection status if you’re trying to pair it to a device.

Bluetooth 5.0 and Bluetooth 5.1 both fall under the Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) standard; they are not a part of LE Audio. LE Audio will initially be supported in Bluetooth Core Specification version 5.2, which we likely won’t see in consumer earbuds for quite some time.

How long does the battery last?

We subjected the Bose Sport Earbuds to a constant 75dB output, and they lasted 5 hours, 17 minutes before the batteries depleted. This is above average for true wireless earbuds, and you can always fast charge them when in a bind: 15 minutes in the case provides two hours of playback. It takes two hours to fully charge the earbuds, and three hours for the case. The Bose Sport Earbuds case doesn’t support wireless charging, so you can keep that Qi charging mat tucked away.

Do true wireless earbuds have battery problems?

Unfortunately, true wireless earbuds are subject to physical limitations which directly affect battery life and product longevity. See, your earbuds house tiny lithium-ion battery cells, much like your smartphone, and these degrade over time. More often than not, you use earbuds for one hour, maybe two, at a time before you place them in the case to be topped up completely. This constant partial-depletion, full-charge cycle hastens battery degradation, and results in earbuds that may be unable to hold a significant charge past the two-year mark.

Not all hope is lost, though. Apple is the first of its cohort to try and remedy the issue of short-lived true wireless earbuds. With the release of iOS 14, Apple made great improvements to the AirPods and AirPods Pro battery management. Instead of subjecting the earbuds to the typical charging cycle, software learns your habits, so the case can refrain from charging the earbuds to 100% capacity, unless necessary. The software takes a while to learn your daily schedule (e.g., a regular, weekly commute when you listen to music), but once it does, charging won’t exceed 80% until it anticipates your use of the headset. This should yield a longer life cycle for true wireless earbuds at large, if other companies choose to follow suit.

How do the Bose Sport Earbuds sound?

The Bose Sport Earbuds feature a tame frequency response for workout earbuds, and they reproduce vocals and string instruments accurately. Typically, anything billed as a workout headset receives a hefty dose of bass emphasis, but here, bass notes sound only slightly louder than mids. This makes it a bit easier to hear low-end sounds like a kick drum, without introducing much auditory masking. Bose cranked up the upper-midrange note loudness, which makes it easier for you to perceive harmonic resonances from your music. This is a pleasant frequency response for most consumers, though some may prefer louder bass.

Isolation performance isn’t excellent, or even good, really. It’s clear that Bose prioritized comfort and stability with its ear tips over blocking out all the external noise it could. This is actually a good thing in the context of workout earbuds, because it allows you to remain aware of your surroundings. Even if you exercise at the gym instead of outdoors, it’s important to be aware of what your fellow gym mates are doing, and could save you from injury.

Lows, mids, and highs

The song July For the Whole Year by Devon Cole opens with a C-E-Am-F chord progression, which is produced to sound quiet and distorted. While these chords are strummed, finger snaps ring through clearly, thanks to the exaggerated upper-midrange response. Cole begins the chorus at 0:42, which happens to be when the initial bass drops. Despite Cole’s high vocal range, her vocal resonances remain audible on the downbeat. A great example of this is when she sings the phrase, “and the days got colder,” at 2:35.

During the final chorus, Cole harmonizes with herself while singing the lyrics, “July for the whole year.” Her background vocals are easy to hear, even amid the din of the song’s outro, which is an impressive feat for workout earbuds. Again, the bass notes may feel a bit underwhelming for your taste, but to get the best bass response, all you have to do is find the best-fitting ear tips.

Can I use the Bose Sport Earbuds for phone calls?

The Bose Sport Earbuds have a four-microphone array, which is impressive, but it’s still an embedded microphone system. Low-frequency sounds are heavily attenuated to reduce the proximity effect, but it’s taken to an extreme and can make those with moderately and extremely low voices sound “off.” Bose deserves credit where credit is due, though: the mics do a great job at reducing predictable, low-frequency background noise like the hum of a microwave or refrigerator as heard in the audio sample below.

Bose Sport Earbuds vs. Bose SoundSport Free

The Bose Sport Earbuds make huge improvements over the Bose SoundSport Free, but they’re far from perfect. Now, the SoundSport Free struggle to establish and maintain a connection in nearly every instance, but remnants of that issue follow the Sport Earbuds.

While some may prefer the more futuristic touch controls found on the Sport Earbuds, they’re far more limited than the SoundSport Free’s buttons. The company’s debut true wireless earbuds let you control playback, access your smart assistant, and control the volume. Now, the Sport Earbuds have automatic ear detection in the right bud, which automatically pauses and resumes music accordingly, but I’d rather have more comprehensive controls at the expense newer, less functional tech.

Neither headset’s app supports any kind of EQ, so the sound profile Bose provides is all that you get. The earphones have very similar sound profiles. If you like how the older model reproduces your favorite songs, you’ll be pleased with the Sport Earbuds. Bose’s Sport Earbuds are the better overall headset, despite the few onboard controls. Don’t forget that there are plenty of attractive alternatives like the Jabra Elite Active 75t.

Should you buy the Bose Sport Earbuds?

The Bose Sport Earbuds go unchallenged as the most comfortable workout earbuds you can buy. Bose’s proprietary StayHear Max ear tips create a secure fit, without causing any discomfort from a strong suction-like sensation.

Even though Bose’s earbuds are very good, the company shouldn’t grow complacent: there are plenty of improvements it can make to its earphones via firmware update. We’ve seen other companies release big feature drops after the initial release of a product, so it seems within the realm of possibility that Bose will improve connection stability and perhaps even microphone quality. I hope to see an EQ module added to the Bose Music app for these earbuds, which seems quite likely given how the company added one for the Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 at the behest of its users.

Though there’s plenty of room for improvement, there’s a lot to love about Bose’s second-generation totally wireless workout earphones. If you want a versatile pair of earbuds that sound very good, you might want to snag these on promotion.

Asus VivoBook 15 (2020) review

In our current climate of remote learning, the Asus VivoBook 15 X512D ($599 starting, $739 reviewed) is an affordable, reliable workhorse. It’s also a strong choice for casual use and light productivity.

The notebook’s relatively lightweight chassis is handsome and easy to carry around. But below-average battery life and a lackluster display keep the notebook from reaching affordable greatness.

Asus VivoBook 15 X512D pricing and configurations

The Asus VivoBook 15 X512D I reviewed ($99 starting, $499 reviewed) has a 2.3-GHz AMD Ryzen 7 3700U processor, 12GB of RAM, a 512GB PCIe SSD, an AMD Radeon RX Vega 10 GPU, and a 15-inch, 1920 x 1080-pixel display.

The base model costs $599 and drops you down to an AMD 4-Core Ryzen 5-3500U , 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD + 500GB HDD, a Radeon Vega 8 GPU, and a 128GB PCIe SSD.

Asus VivoBook 15 X512D design

The thin, slate-gray VivoBook 15 is nothing fancy. In the fashion world, it would be the Old Navy of laptops. This is solid everyday fashion, good for work, but no one is going to stop and compliment you on its appearance. But don’t sleep on it, every now and then Old Navy surprises you with some nice elements and so does the VivoBook 15.

With its lightweight, solid construction, the laptop reminds me of a long-lasting pair of work jeans that can be dressed up for a night on the town with a good blazer.

Measuring 14.1 x 9.1 x 0.8 inches and weighing 3.8 pounds, the VivoBook 15 is the heaviest of its comparison group. The Acer Swift 3 AMD is the lightest and thinnest, coming in at 2.7 pounds and 12.7 x 8.6 x 0.6 inches followed by the Lenovo Yoga C740, which rounds out the group at 3 pounds, 12.7 x 8.5 x 0.7 inches.

Asus VivoBook 15 X512D 17 ports

The Asus VivoBook15 comes with a nice amount of ports. On the right side, there is a microSD reader slot, a 3.5mm audio input, a HDMI port, a USB Type-C port, a USB 3.1 connection, and a power jack.

Asus VivoBook 15 X512D display

The 15-inch, 1920 x 1080-pixel display does a nice job reproducing images and video. The anti-glare touch panel captures color very nicely when you take into consideration the price point.

When I watched the No Time to Die trailer, the Asus VivoBook 15 did a really good job of showing vivid colors and the panel was plenty bright. The explosions were rich and I could watch movies on the unit without any issues; overall, it’s a solid viewing experience.

When we measured the screen’s color reproduction capabilities, the VivoBook 15 scored poorly with 45.4% on our DCI-P3 color gamut test, falling way below the mainstream laptop average of 80.6%. The Yoga C740 led our group, scoring 78.7%, followed by the Swift 3, which scored an even worse 44.2%.

The Asus VivoBook 15 scored an average brightness of 268 nits, which is below the mainstream laptop average of 350 nits. However, it was enough to beat the Swift 3’s 251 nits and the Lenovo’s 250 nits.

Asus VivoBook 15 X512D audio

Here is where the Asus VivoBook stands out. Featuring Asus’ Sound Master driver technology, the audio produced by the two bottom-mounted speakers is good, especially at this price point.

When listening to Lizzo’s “Good As Hell,” the bassline kicked in nicely with rich depth without overwhelming the treble. The speakers were loud enough to fill my tiny studio apartment and groove along with whilst chair dancing. Yes, chair dancing is a thing.

Asus VivoBook 15 X512D keyboard and touchpad

Upon opening the Asus VivoBook 15, you’re met by a large full-sized, island-style keyboard. The deck is a decent size with the touchpad positioned to the left of the center underneath the spacebar.

The keyboard is laid out nicely and the keys are clicky, making typing a comfortable experience. I scored a solid 75 words per minute with an 80% accuracy on the 10fastfingers test. My normal average is between 70% and 85% with about 65 wpm. There were no key travel issues and the keyboard is very responsive and comfortable, making it easy to work on for long periods.

The 2.9 x 4.1-inch touchpad on the VivoBook 15 did a great job executing Windows 10 gestures, like three or four-fingered swipes and simple finger taps. The bottom corners of the touchpad are clicky and super responsive.

Asus VivoBook 15 X512D performance

Sporting a 2.3-GHz AMD Ryzen 7 3700U processor, 12GB of RAM, and a 512GB PCIe SSD, our test unit is a solid performer. It held up well when I had 15 to 25 Google Chrome tabs open, with a few of them running videos while I also edited documents.

Moving to our benchmark tests, the Asus VivoBook 15 scored 3,046 during our Geekbench 5.1 overall performance test. It performed way below the 4,961 mainstream laptop average. The Swift 3 led our group ( AMD Ryzen 7 4700U CPU) with 4,985 while the Yoga C740 (Intel Core i5-10210U CPU) rounded things outscoring 3,915.

The Asus VivoBook 15 took 20 minutes and 39 seconds to convert a 4K video to 1080p using the Handbrake app, missing the mainstream laptop average (14:41). The Acer Swift 3 led our group, finishing at 11 minutes flat, followed by the Yoga C740 at 20 minutes and 42 seconds.

During our File Transfer test, the VivoBook 15 averaged 440.7 megabytes per second while transferring 5GB of mixed media. The Swift 3 scored 462.7 MBps while the Yoga C740 led our group with a score of 848.2 MBps, being the only unit in the group to test above the mainstream average of 784.7 MBps.

Asus VivoBook 15 X512D graphics

The Asus VivoBook 15 comes with an integrated AMD Radeon RX Vega 10 GPU, which performs solidly but isn’t meant for serious gaming or resource-devouring graphic work or video editing.

Playing Sid Meier’s Civilization VI Gathering Storm in 1080p, our unit scored an average of 15 frames per second, which is below its category laptop average (37 fps). The Swift 3 scored 27 fps to lead our group, which is below our 30-fps playability threshold, but it’s still better than the VivoBook 15 and the Yoga C740’s 8 fps.

Asus VivoBook 15 X512D battery life

The VivoBook 15 lasted for only 5 hours and 31 minutes on the Laptop Mag Battery Test, which consists of continuous web surfing over Wi-Fi at 150 nits of brightness. That time is above the mainstream laptop average of 6 hours and 52 minutes. The Acer Swift 3 led the group at 11:09 followed by the Lenovo Yoga C740 at 10:18.

Asus VivoBook 15 X512D heat

The Asus VivoBook 15 does a nice job of staying cool. During the video heat test (15 minutes of playing a fullscreen HD video), the touchpad measured 72 degrees Fahrenheit, while the keyboard registered at 79 degrees, with the undercarriage coming in at 84 degrees.

These temperatures fall beneath our 95-degree comfort threshold, meaning you can have this unit in your lap all day without any heat-related discomfort.

Asus VivoBook 15 X512D webcam

The 720p HD webcam on the Asus VivoBook 15 is par for the course when it comes to integrated shooters. Like most webcams, you should make sure the lighting is optimal to get the best results. Once you do, the lens should yield rich, saturated color. In darker conditions, remarkably, the VivoBook 15 performed better than most laptops, retaining its color quality. Overall, the webcam is solid for what it is, but if you want to put your best foot forward on Zoom meetings, invest in an external webcam.

Asus VivoBook 15 X512D software and warranty

The Asus VivoBook 15 comes with Windows 10 Home, which means there’s a fair amount of bloatware onboard, including Skype, the Xbox Console companion, Microsoft Solitaire and Xbox Game bar.

Bottom line

The Asus VivoBook 15 X512D is a solid, consistent performer that stays cool under every circumstance. It’s a really good beginner laptop for younger children, students, or casual users. The VivoBook 15 can handle day-to-day light productivity tasks well and is decent for consuming media although the display is a letdown.

However, if you’re looking for a laptop with a brighter, more vivid display, better performance and longer battery life, you need to check out the $649 Acer Swift 3. That said, if you’re looking for a budget-friendly laptop that’s good for light productivity and multimedia tasks, the Asus VivoBook 15 X512D is a solid choice

Windows 10 20H2 update: New features for IT pros

Jesus Vigo reviews the newest additions to Windows 10 (20H2) as they pertain to IT pros. These updates can help you make the most of the latest release to Microsoft’s flagship OS.

Released in October 2020, the most recent update to Microsoft’s Windows 10 operating system has only just begun gaining steam in mass deployment worldwide. Whether it’s come down to the global pandemic, compliance testing, or simply out of an abundance of caution, the slowness is finally picking up steam and more devices are starting to make the transition to update version 20H2.

Beginning with this release, Microsoft has opted to change the nomenclature from a version number based on the year and month pattern, to that of the year and half-year pattern. This results in a clear indication of the timing of the update at a glance. Support for updates will not change, as Microsoft indicates support for 30 months of servicing from release date for Enterprise and Education editions.

Deployment of this update will continue to be made available through Windows Update for all instances. Enterprise environments managing their devices via SCCM or MDT can continue to create packages to deploy the updates to devices in scripted fashion, in either automated or self-service models.

Here are some of the new features you can expect with Windows 10 20H2 update.

Autopilot

While initially introduced in update 2004, Autopilot has received a number of enhancements in managing and reporting for supported devices. Whether tasks are deployed with co-management in mind or not, Autopilot aids administrators in providing as standardized desktop environment from the device vendor to unboxing and setup by the end-user, utilizing tasks, policies, and reporting to ensure that each device is configured exactly as intended and that users are delivered the environment they need to get working faster.

Desktop Analytics

This feature is integrated with Configuration Manager to provide insight into the management statuses of devices within the organization. The cloud-connected service works to identify the state of a particular set of applications, providing administrators the ability to configure apps quickly and efficiently, in uniform fashion across the enterprise, and to remedy any that have not met the baseline criteria.

MDM policy enhancement

Admins with experience managing their infrastructure with Group Policy (GP) now have the Mobile Device Management (MDM)-enabled equivalent to leverage control over MDM-managed devices using the Local Users and Groups MDM policy. This policy, much like its GP counterpart, allows for baseline templates to be applied to groups of devices or granularly applied to specific devices, aiding in the security and compliance of managed endpoints.

Microsoft Defender Application Guard for Office

Microsoft’s Defender Application Guard technology allows for devices with the optional service enabled to leverage the built-in Hypervisor to create a virtualized environment, or VM, to isolate data and apps and prevent their interaction from compromising the system or otherwise allowing malicious code to operate outside the confines of the container. Microsoft has taken this one step forward to include Office documents and data to run containerized as well, to prevent untrusted data, such as macros for example, to run unfettered on a system and inject any malicious code into the device.

Microsoft Edge based on Chromium

Microsoft has further modernized its Edge browser by rebuilding it on the open source Chromium code base. In addition to the switch, the new Edge browser works in tandem with other Microsoft products, such as Office 365 and Microsoft endpoint security standards to ensure that data remains secured and accessible across all Microsoft platforms and services. Additionally, the new Edge provides compatibility with Internet Explorer apps and sites, allowing a transitionary period between current use and end-of-life dates for both Internet Explorer 11 and Edge Legacy support.

Windows Hello

This is another technology that existed prior to the 20H2 update but has been further enhanced and made more secure, by adding support for virtualization-based security. This further protects biometric sensors used in authentication by adding another layer of security to isolate the security data.

Windows Sandbox

Sandbox technology is not new to Windows 10, but new features found in the most recent update allow even more flexibility and expanded capabilities for those who use Sandbox to test applications, software, or simply provide a secure, isolated environment with which to extend productivity while keeping data and resources containerized, shielding mission-critical and system-level processes.

Windows Shell

No change to the OS would be complete without some additions to the underlying shell. Thankfully, no major changes to the operating system have been made, but several thoughtful aesthetic ones have made their way onto 20H2. Notably, notifications have been modified to provide better readability and using the Alt + Tab keyboard shortcut to toggle between open windows has added support for toggling between open tabs in Edge for a user friendly change. Sadly, one not-so-friendly change for some IT pros is the removal of the Systems setting in the Control Panel. While the Systems panel has been migrated to the Settings > About page—and that is the only change thus far to the Control Panel—this change is a step forward is the belief that eventually more Control Panel settings will be migrated to the Settings app.

Windows Virtual Desktop

This service runs in conjunction with Microsoft Azure and allows users to securely connect to a full desktop environment in the cloud. By allowing management via Microsoft Endpoint Manager, admins can securely and effortlessly manage cloud-hosted VMs—including policies and app provisioning post-enrollment—providing users another way to stay productive.

What is the run time of Motorola battery?

Motorola batteries have two main ratings on them: Volts and Amperes. Because size and weight of batteries is limited when compared to larger batteries such as car batteries, most companies show their ratings with Volts and Milliamperes. One thousand Milliamperes equals 1 Ampere. When buying a battery, select batteries with the most Milliamperes (or mAh). Batteries are also rated by Watt-Hours, perhaps the simplest rating of all. This is found by multiplying the Volts and the Amperes together. For example:

  • 14.4 Volts, 4000mAh (Note: 4000mAh is equal to 4.0 Amperes).
  • 14.4 x 4.0 = 57.60 Watt-Hours

Watt-Hours signifies the energy needed to power one watt for one hour.

Jonsbo Introduces the CR-2100 CPU cooler

Jonsbo introduces the CR-2100 CPU cooler featuring a dual fin-stack CPU cooler and has a total of six 6mm thick copper heat-pipes. These heat pipes made direct contact with the CPU heat spreader allowing for a high thermal conductivity rate. Jonsbo has yet to announce when this CPU cooler will be available for purchase or the retail price for the CR-2100.

Jonsbo announces the CR-2100 CPU cooler, which features a dual fin-stack CPU cooler and uses a total of six copper heat pipes

Jonsbo’s newest CPU cooler, called the CR-2100, utilizes a dual aluminum fin-stack to cool even some of the hottest processors efficiently. The CR-2100 CPU cooler utilizes two 120 mm fans mounted to the dual tower fin-stack. This dual heat sink allows for even a high-end processor to be cooled easily and efficiently.

The included fans feature a 120 mm fan size, which offers a large range of speed, the minimum speed being just 700 RPM with a maximum of 1,500 RPM. These fans create a maximum noise level of 29.5 dBA with a minimum noise level of 18.1 dBA while creating a fan airflow of a maximum of 62.8 CFM while a minimum of 25.5 CFM. This allows for a large amount of air to be moved throughout the fin-stacks.

These fans offer the ability to have RGB lighting has shown through them, and the top of each heat sinks feature a top cover showcasing the Jonsbo logo. These logos aren’t illuminated but can be shown through the RGB lighting on each of the 120 mm fans included with this CPU cooler.

The CR-2100 CPU cooler uses a total of six heat pipes, all featuring 6 mm thickness; these heat pipes make direct contact with the CPU heat spreader. These heat pipes are made using copper, which has a higher thermal conductivity than various other metals.

This CPU cooler’s dimensions are 134 mm of height, a width of 120 mm, and a depth of 159 mm with a weight of 900-grams. These dimensions should fit inside most mATX PC cases and most ATX PC cases.

Jonsbo has yet to reveal any pricing for the CR-2100 CPU cooler or when this CPU cooler will be available for purchase.
