NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Graphics Card To Feature 10,496 CUDA Cores, 20 GB GDDR6X Memory & 320W TGP, Tackles AMD’s RX 6800 XT

NVIDIA seems to have finally finalized the specifications for its new enthusiast graphics card, the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti. In a tweet by Kopite7kimi, it is reported that NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is now being prepped as a direct competition to the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT graphics card, offering more memory and also much beefier specifications than the existing RTX 3080.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Reportedly Gets Huge Specs Boost, Same Cores as RTX 3090 With 20 GB VRAM To Tackle AMD’s Radeon RX 6800 XT

It was recently reported that NVIDIA has started working on its GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and GeForce RTX 3070 Ti graphics cards, both of which will be rocking the GA102 GPU core and offer faster GPU performance with their meaty specifications. There were also reports that the original designs for the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and GeForce RTX 3070 Ti were canceled since they weren’t on par with the competition, prompting NVIDIA to go back to the drawing board and reassess the specs.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti “Rumored” Graphics Card Specifications

Just a few months after, it looks like NVIDIA has finally decided the specifications of its GeForce RTX 3080 Ti graphics card. Details from Kopite7kimi suggest that the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FE (Founders Edition) graphics card will feature the PG133-SKU15 PCB design and the GA102-250-KD-A1 graphics core.

The specifications for the GA102-250 GPU have also changed since the last time we saw them and are now exactly the same as the GeForce RTX 3090 at 10496 FP32 CUDA cores. This means that we are essentially looking at RTX 3090 performance at a lower price point. There’s a possibility that some select blocks could be disabled for the GA102-250 GPU and the card would almost certainly run at lower clock speeds but that remains to be seen.

As for memory, the card will feature 20 GB of GDDR6X memory. Unlike the 19.5 Gbps speeds of the RTX 3090, the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is said to retain the same memory speeds as the RTX 3080 at 19 Gbps. Since we are getting a 20 GB bus interface, NVIDIA will be using a 320-bit bus interface which equals a total bandwidth of 760 GB/s. TGP for the card is set to be the same as the RTX 3080 at 320 Watts. That’s definitely needed to feed the extra cores so NVIDIA might have to optimize the clocks a bit here.

In terms of performance, we can expect the card to tackle the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT but we do not know if NVIDIA plans to offer the RTX 3080 Ti at a higher price point than the RTX 3080 or reduce prices on their existing RTX 3080 and RTX 3070 cards to match the competition. I believe the price cuts won’t be happening soon since NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 30 series supply is being sold as soon as it ships out of the factory to the retail segment.

The RTX 3080 Ti could hit a price around $899-$999 US which would be $249 US higher than the RX 6800 XT at the very least. We also know that the GeForce RTX 3090 is around 10-15% faster than the RTX 3080 and the RTX 3080 Ti is also expected to fall within the same range. This mostly looks like a repeat of the GeForce GTX 780 and Radeon R9 290X days where the 780 failed to impress us against the competition and NVIDIA had to go all the way to release the GeForce GTX 780 Ti to undo the damage done by the R9 290X.

PlayStation 5 Won’t Support Native 1440p Resolution After All Says Sony

When the subject of next-gen console resolution come up, we hear a lot about 4K, but what about 1440p? Obviously the Xbox Series S will support 1440p, as it’s been specifically designed around that resolution, and Microsoft has said the Series X will support it as well, but what about the PlayStation 5? Sony has remained rather quiet on the subject. Previously, monitor manufacturer BenQ hinted the PS5 would support 1440p, but it seems they were mistaken.

According to IGN Italy, representatives from Sony have officially confirmed that the PS5 doesn’t support 1440p natively. Now, you’ll still be able to connect a 1440p screen to your PS5 and play games, but what you’ll most likely be getting is a 1080p signal upscaled to 1440p, which doesn’t always look great. This isn’t anything new – surprisingly, the PS4 Pro also only supported 1080p and 4K natively even though, functionally, a large number of its games ran at around 1440p.

So, why does this matter? Well, if you’re strictly a couch-and-TV gamer, it probably doesn’t. The vast majority of TVs are either 1080p or 4K, with 1440p screens being exceedingly rare. That said, 1440p screens are popular amongst a subset of PC gamers, so those looking to play their PS5 games on their monitor may be in for a less-than-optimal experience. Of course, Sony giving PC gamers the cold shoulder isn’t terribly surprising – they’ve started to allow some of their games like Horizon Zero Dawn to be ported to PC, but they’re still primarily about the console-TV experience.

The New Apple Silicon MacBook Pro Concept Shows iPad Pro-Like Rounded Corners Coupled With Slim Bezels and a Compact Chassis

The Apple Silicon MacBook Pro design isn’t something that was regularly mentioned in the countless wave of rumors we stumbled across. However, since it would sport a custom ARM-based chip, we can assume that Apple would aim to put the hardware inside a compact, but thoroughly rigid chassis. Looks like we’ll have to wait until November 10 to find out, as that’s when Apple’s ‘One More Thing’ event will kick off. Then again, why wait when you can check out the Apple Silicon MacBook Pro right now thanks to this latest concept.

Fresh Concept Shows Smaller, but Wider Trackpad Thanks to the Reduced Footprint

It looks like ZONEofTECH was deeply inspired by the iPad Pro design if it took cues from that to make the Apple Silicon MacBook Pro concept. If you take a close look at the images, you’ll notice that the ARM-based notebook sports rounded corners with symmetrical and slimmer bezels, just like Apple’s premium tablet. It appears that nearly everyone has something positive to say about the iPad Pro design, even the company since the iPhone 12’s new look is also based on that.

The concept also shows that the Apple Silicon MacBook Pro is able to run iOS natively, so let us see if Apple brings the same compatibility in the near future. Just like the Intel-based versions, this concept shows a Touch Bar at the top, an inverted-T arrow key cluster on the right, and a decent keyboard layout that’s also backlit. Naturally, thanks to the smaller footprint of the Apple Silicon MacBook Pro, the trackpad size had to be reduced, but it’s still wide enough to allow users to take their palms at a fair amount of distance.

Personally, we’re impressed with the level of creativity ZONEofTECH brought to the table with this concept, although we’re not sure if Apple will intend on using this design when it preps for next week’s presentation. Fortunately, the pricing is rumored to be competitive, with the new 13-inch MacBook Air possibly starting from $799, and the 13-inch MacBook Pro starting from $1,099 to undercut the competition while also being cheaper than their Intel counterparts.

As for the hardware, the new 13-inch MacBook Pro is rumored to ship with a custom 12-core SoC, so we’ll wait and see just how well it performs when the first products are officially available to purchase. Windows 10 Iron Build 20251: Known issues

LG quietly unveils a fast 27-inch FreeSync Premium gaming monitor

At first glance, LG’s new 27-inch UltraGear 27GN800-B gaming monitor appears virtually identical to another one with a similar model number (27GN850-B). Both are equipped with a fast screen and offer similar specifications across the board, but the new 27GN800-B is actually a little different (and hopefully ends up a little bit cheaper to boot).

The 27GN800-B is another LG monitor to feature an IPS panel, just like the 27GN850-B that came before it. And like its predecessor, it offers a native 2560×1440 (QHD) resolution with a respectably fast 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms gray-to-gray response time, making it a good option for gaming with a mid-range and/or high-end graphics card.

Both are also FreeSync Premium models that have passed Nvidia’s G-Sync Compatible certification program, which means they can match the display’s refresh rate to the GPU for smoother gaming whether you’re using a Radeon or GeForce GPU.

Most of the specifications are the same as 27GN850-B, except for that monitor, LG lists a DCI-P3 color gamut (98 percent) rating rather than sRGB. Power consumption on the newer 27GN800-B is a lower lower as well (45-48W versus 51-55W), but otherwise, both serve up a pair of HDMI inputs, a single DisplayPort connector, and a headphone-out jack, and they each lack built-in speakers.

What this really boils down to (as far as I can tell) is a skimpier stand. The stand on the 27GN800-B does not allow for any height or pivot adjustments, only tilt, whereas the 27GN850-B offers all three. So depending on where pricing lands, it could come down to ergonomics versus economics when debating the two.

LG has not announced a price yet, nor has it even formally introduced the 27GN800-B, there is just a product landing page. As a point of reference, however, the 27GN850-B goes for $450 on Best Buy. I would expect (hope, really) the 27GN800-B would come in $50+ below.
