OnePlus 8 Pro May Offer 30X Digital Zoom, Sony’s New 48MP IMX689 Sensor

As we officially creep closer to new devices from OnePlus, we’re learning more about them from leaks on the web. According to the latest from Pricebaba, we’re getting a good feel for what to expect from the OnePlus 8 Pro in the camera department.

Detailed in collaboration with tipster Ishan Agarwal, the OnePlus 8 Pro will feature a 48-megapixel main camera sensor from Sony (IMX689), complete with another 48MP sensor for ultra-wide shooting, an 8-megapixel telephoto lens capable of 30x digital zoom, plus an additional 5-megapixel camera. That’s four cameras in total, perfectly aligning with all of the renders we’ve seen of the device.

From the digging we’ve done, Sony’s latest IMX689 imaging sensor is only in two devices from OPPO currently, so there isn’t too much real-world experience with it yet. It’ll be interesting to see how it fares.

The report also notes that OnePlus is adding an all-new Night Portrait mode, 3-HDR video, new cinematic effects, as well as improved optical image stabilization (OIS) as well as electronic image stabilization (EIS).

OnePlus 8 Pro’s camera specs leaks; will have two 48MP cameras

The OnePlus 8 Pro’s launch draws closer with each passing day, and while we wait for an official confirmation, leaks are pouring in that reveal key details about the upcoming phone.

If you are curious about the camera configuration of the OnePlus 8 Pro, you don’t have to wait till launch day as the teenage leaker, Ishan Agarwal (@ishanagarwal24), has shared the specifications.

According to the leaker who has partnered with the Indian blog, PriceBaba, the OnePlus 8 Pro will have a 48MP primary camera which is a Sony IMX689 sensor with F1.78 aperture size. This is the same sensor used by the OPPO Find X2 Pro.

The phone will also have a second 48MP camera but this is the Sony IMX586 sensor. This second camera is the ultrawide angle camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a 120° field of view. The third camera is an 8MP telephoto camera with an f/2.4 aperture and 3x optical zoom. The OnePlus 8 Pro will also be capable of 30x digital zoom. The fourth camera sensor is a 5MP color filter.

The leaker mentioned some software features coming to the phone such as Night Portrait Mode, improved OIS and EIS, cinematic effects and a feature called “3-HDR”.

The OnePlus 8 Pro will make it to DXOMark’s list and should be among the top 5 devices but it remains to be seen how long it will retain its spot before being pushed out of the top 10 list.

ONEPLUS 8 PRO FIRST LIVE IMAGES LEAKED ONLINE SPORTING PUNCH-HOLE DESIGN

OnePlus is likely to launch the OnePlus 8-series in April next month. And while we are still some time away from the company unveiling its next flagship devices, including the OnePlus 8 Pro. There is nothing stopping the recurrence of leaks of the upcoming smartphones.

Now, a new set of live photos have been spotted online. The images showcase what the OnePlus 8 Pro is likely to look like. These leaked photos show the back and front of the smartphone. It is worth noting that the images spotted also coincides with the previous leak renders of the OnePlus 8 Pro.

The alleged photo of the OnePlus 8 Pro suggests that the smartphone could feature a slight chin at the bottom and minimal bezels on the top and other sides. One can also notice a punch-hole camera on the top-left corner of the phone, housing a selfie camera. The front camera is also placed in a way that they merge with the notification bar at the top.

At the back is a camera module that looks similar to the OnePlus 7T or OnePlus 7T Pro device. However, it also shows an extra sensor on the left side of the setup, which is likely the 3D ToF depth camera. Its use will probably have a similar approach as Huawei phones, with usage in Portrait Mode photos and AR depth mapping. The image also confirms that OnePlus will continue with a curved screen display design this year.

ONEPLUS 8 PRO EXPECTED FEATURES

Based on what has leaked so far, the OnePlus 8 Pro is likely to feature a 6.65-inch AMOLED QHD+ Display with a whopping 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the new OnePlus device will pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC with up to 12GB of RAM. The smartphone might also incorporate a 4,500 mAh battery with support for 50W fast charging.

For photography, the smartphone will come with a quad-camera setup at the back. As per leaks, the setup will include a newer Sony IMX 686 primary sensor. Paired with an ultra-wide-angle lens, a telephoto sensor, and a ToF camera. It will be interesting to see if OnePlus adds much-requested features like wireless charging and IP certification this time.
